Impossible is nothing. Success comes with a lot of crap. Hear my name kids and I am that.

Belize

I have come to the conclusion that people in Belize don’t do jack shit! Life is very different here since the times I visited my family here as a child. Yes…in LA people have to make a living with a job and sometimes that can take control of your entire life. Some people I know in LA live a life of partying every weekend drinking their way Thursday-Sunday. But the people here in Belize…wow I really don’t understand anymore. As a child when I came here people would be out in the streets downtown, there was hustle and bustle, music would be playing through the streets at night, kids and teens would be out at the parks. As kids we would roam the streets at 3am enjoying the freedom to do whatever we wanted and have fun. Overall, if I was a tourist here back in the day I could truely feel a sense of Belizean culture.

Now, everything is the opposite! There are no kids at parks, there is no music in the streets. Its so sad…I understand over the past 6 years there has been a lot of violent killings in Belize. There are even “bloods and crips” out here now. I guess those 2 things have been a big culture shock for the whole nation. Kids live their lives on Facebook and Myspace out here. The streets are empty by 9. The park lights are on, but no one is playing. The young generation get involved with drugs and the wrong people. On a weekday afternoon regular kids are watching tv or on the internet. Same as with the fatass kids in the US!

I’m not saying that life here is completely sad. For those of you that have not visited Belize…you might have higher expectations from what you’ve heard. There are still beautiful places like the keyes, the blue hole, the ancient ruins. Festivals still happen when the time comes. But Belize has truely changed from the culture it once was.

I’m going to make a non profit organization in my hometown of San Ignacio to get kids outside again and music in the air. Belize is a nation with 350,000 people. Change can happen out here if you know the right group of people no doubt. Once I take care of my plans with my education…I’ll start the process. HAHA! Obama style…but really though. Things have got to change.

Life shouldn’t be enjoyed in excess of partying nor day to day. There should be balance. In Belize there was freedom to be out enjoy what a Carribean lifestyle should be. That is no more.
